Support when you need it

Smiths Technical Services is our Group's centre of technical excellence, including a UKAS Accredited Testing Laboratory. Based in Biggleswade, the laboratory supports eight businesses in the Group, including TSM Steel.

Do you need it?

Steel is a 'run of the mill' product used by thousands of engineering businesses in the metal supply sector. As a straightforward material, is metallurgical support a consideration? In most cases, steel lacks the complexity of more exotic alloys, but you may run into problems machining or require material investigation. In such instances, our Group's laboratory services may prove invaluable.

Investment

Our Group's laboratory has been operational for over a decade and has received considerable investment. In 2023, Smiths Technical Services will move from Smiths Metal Centre's bulk warehouse in Biggleswade to a separate, new, state-of-the-art facility less than 1,000 yards away. The new premises will allow Smiths Technical Services to expand its operations, including more testing methods.

This level of Group support differentiates us from a traditional steel stockholding business and adds considerable value to our services, which is important in modern supply chains.
